Early in life we develop ways of being that were essential for survival at one point, but can create difficulties in work, relationships, and other aspects of our lives in the present. We are often unaware (unconscious) of these patterns or ways of being in the world that we develop over time. Through warm and collaborative work I help individuals and couples address these difficulties. I have extensive experience working with people with relationship difficulties, trauma, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, depression, and anxiety

In my therapeutic approach, I honor the depth of human experience and view each person as more than just a collection of symptoms. My approach is holistic, welcoming the mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of life, as well as each person’s connection to the world around them. A fundamental component of successful therapy is that the relationship feels warm, safe, and free of any and all judgment.

Life is full of unexpected twists and turns – it’s hard to keep up sometimes!
From the beginning, we all develop behaviors, patterns, and coping mechanisms that influence our current experiences. When it comes to handling stress, loss, conflict, finances, sex, criticism, etc., we will pick up helpful ways to deal with our current situations. But more often than not, we are just trying to figure out how to survive the best we can; which can sometimes create more damage than not. So how do we navigate and regain control when it comes to being our best self for our relationships, our communities, and for ourselves?

I also incorporate yoga, expressive arts, play therapy, and somatic therapy to provide other mediums in which my clients can communicate and heal.

Often the things that cause us pain in the present are connected to pain from the past. I build safe and collaborative relationships with my patients. Together we will work to understand the many facets of life and relationships that cause you pain thus helping you to make sense of your own mind so you can live your fullest life.

Some people find themselves feeling stuck with certain thoughts and feelings. Others find themselves repeating behaviors that lead to unproductive and problematic situations in their life. Therapy is a process where these concerns can be discussed and worked through from a nonjudgmental standpoint. My therapeutic approach is to assist you in reaching your personal or relationship goals with more effective ways of being. The adolescents and adults I work with are understood as individuals that have their own unique attitudes, beliefs, and experiences.

My practice focuses on creating a warm and welcoming environment which encourages you to bring your full self, whatever that may look like in the moment. I have a deep respect for the therapeutic process and feel privileged to walk beside you on your journey. Slowing down and allowing space for whatever is present is not something we are often encouraged to do in our day-to-day lives, and I believe it is paramount to healing. I work from a trauma-informed, person-centered, holistic perspective and am committed to anti-oppressive practices.

Modern-day therapy can often feel like it’s just scratching the surface of the issues you face, attempting to stamp out the symptoms you’re experiencing by using worksheets and behavioral strategies. I see therapy differently. My goal as a therapist is to truly know you as a person, and for you to then understand yourself better.

I offer individual therapy to clients of all ages who are looking to ease symptoms of anxiety and depression, improve relationships and communication, or who simply wish to live a more mindful and connected life. I approach treatment from a multiculturally competent lens, and aim to offer gender-affirming care to my clients. I offer a non-judgmental space where I strive to build a strong foundation of trust with my clients so that we can work together to gain insight on life’s stressors and struggles from a client-centered, strength-based treatment perspective.

Living out of alignment with who we really are can leave us feeling lost, stuck, and alone. Many of us learned to play certain roles to find care and acceptance as children, but what kept us safe then ends up no longer serving us – and ultimately fuels our suffering.

The relationships we form early in life impact how we communicate with ourselves and with others today. Ways we have learned to cope with challenges in the past may no longer be effective in serving our current needs. With warmth, support, and curiosity, we can bring awareness to our patterns and begin reflecting on how we would like to go about living in the present and in the future. Exploring what is personally important and meaningful in life is a unique process for every person. Empathy, self-compassion, mindfulness, and psychodynamic theory are at the center of my practice.

We all learn through early relationships and experiences how to communicate with others, ourselves, and how to cope and engage with our reality—-whatever that may look like. Sometimes over the course of our lives, what we’ve learned no longer serves us, our needs, or our desires. I believe that therapy serves as a space to become aware of who we’ve been and who we want to be, while engaging in new and healthy dynamics.

I currently focus on working with teens and adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, disordered eating and relationship concerns. It often feels like silencing what troubles us is less painful, whether we do so consciously or unconsciously--I join with clients to access this part of ourselves with great care. My approach encourages exploring that which we often avoid, through a relational, anti-oppressive approach, to treat root causes of distressing symptoms.

I have experience working with all ages in individual therapy, and have a particular interest in working with children and their families, teenagers, and young adults, navigating the unique challenges of these developmental phases. I am a psychodynamically oriented therapist and also incorporate play therapy, expressive therapies, mindfulness techniques, and somatic principles into my work. With warmth, curiosity, and openness, I strive to create a space where you can feel safe to invite all aspects of yourself for us to explore. I believe our current pain, struggle, or dissatisfaction is often rooted in our past experiences, and by exploring and understanding your experience together, we can free you up to be your most authentic self, moving through life with greater ease and lessened suffering. I am honored to partner with my patients in this difficult and rewarding investment in yourself.

Some people go through life believing they know what they want and yet discover a nagging sense of dissatisfaction when they get it. Others repeat old patterns and find themselves keeping a safe distance from their goals. Naturally, there are no quick fixes to challenges like these, but with time, hard work, and an unprejudiced space to speak it is possible to reach new perspectives on longstanding issues and build new relationships with self and with others. My practice is to avoid reducing anyone to a symptom or a diagnosis and my priority is to listen to the many different aspects of each individual, including those that may not be fully conscious. I don’t believe in “normal” and my approach is geared to help you invest more fully in the complexity and uniqueness of who you are.

The therapy space becomes something different to each of us. Sometimes we are looking to accomplish a specific goal and other times, looking for a place to be intentionally present with ourselves for a while. Whatever brings you to this moment, finding a therapist that feels compatible with that vision is often a part of that process.

To be a part of a process in which clients heal wounds, enact change, and grow as humans is nothing short of magical – it’s why I do what I do and I strive to offer a judgment free, genuine, and accepting place to do those things. I deeply believe in the value of human relationships, the power of empathy and sincerity, and I see people as experts of their own lives, capable of more than we tend to believe.
