Maya Baglien, BA, Clinical Practicum

she/her

Humans are shaped by context – how we relate to ourselves and others, communities we’re a part of, environments we inhabit, and beyond. It’s easy to lose sight of oneself in the pressures of daily life or during major life transitions; staying connected can be difficult. Familiar patterns can stir anger, loneliness, grief, shame, or guilt as they circle back around. Handed-down stories that once made sense may feel constricting, too heavy to keep carrying, or written for someone else.

Our work together can be a steady place to be witnessed and sort through overwhelming, taboo, and conflicting feelings. At your pace, we can explore the context that has shaped the present, find reconnection with yourself, and re-author a more authentic story.

My name is Maya, and I am an intern at Emerge Therapy while completing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adler Graduate School. I provide individual psychotherapy to adults under the supervision of Deanna Pelley, MA, LPCC. My approach to therapy is relational, intersectional, and LGBTQIA+ affirming. I’m informed by psychodynamic, narrative therapy, ACT, existentialism, and expressive arts theories. I have a particular interest in working with individuals who self-identify as creative.

Outside of work I spend time writing songs, dancing with friends, practicing yoga, wandering
through the woods in wonder, and experimenting with overly complicated effects pedals.
